Catching Quality Striped Bass at the CBBT
Sandy, Capt. Barry, and I launched at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay where it enters the Atlantic Ocean. The water temperature was 53 degrees under a bluebird sky with the air temperature to climb to 68 degrees on Dec 8, 2004. This was the first day after a cold front so we were faced with bluebird clear skies. Normally catching can be tough under this weather condition, but not at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, CBBT. Quality striped bass were caught throughout the entire day with the largest measured in at 35".
The following day was even more productive. The water temperature was the same as on Dec 8th, but the skies were cloudy. Supply us with low light conditions on the water. There were plenty of large striped bass caught on top water lures.

When not taking lures the stripers were keyed in on this bait.

All good things must come to an end....until the next trip.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Tom Hughes
