I have been watching the boards and reports for the CBBT and finally booked a trip with Capt Tom Hughes.

Three of us fished under birds for five hours on Tuesday and caught fish constantly.  This is my first trip there and took two of my fishing buddies who were not expecting this nonstop action. I was expecting a good trip and had we stopped after the first hour we would have not been disappointed.  We had over 50 fish between 28-36" the first hour, most on topwater and all of our baits were barbless, we lost fish but before we could get the bait to the boat we would hookup again.

One of my own reels was and I repeat was spooled with Power Pro was quickly emptied by a very determined big fish.  It happened so fast that I couldn't react fast enough and she was gone.  By 11:00 we had caught so many fish that it just was unbelievable.  One of my buddies had his personal best with a 39" in the morning only to be broke with a 40".  I felt a solid TAP and set the hook on another fish that had her own idea of which direction she was headed and it wasn't to the boat, this time I paid a little more attention to my line peeling off and we backed down on the fish so that I could get some line back on the reel. Ten minutes later I was holding a 45", 35 lb rock for that Kodak moment and back in the water she went.

We caught 50 fish in the 30" range right off the bat with some 35-38" mixed in. The afternoon kept producing fish after fish 24-28". We took home 6 in the 26-30" range, some were bleeders that were kept.  Tom Hughes did an awesome job keeping us into fish and it was fun for me because Tom did for my buddies what I normally due when fishing on my boat.

All in all he said we caught 300 fish. I thought maybe 200-250.  If you divide 300 by 3 anglers for 7 hours fishing it works out to be about 14 fish an hour, and I think we caught more than 14/hour each.  We were too busy to count. If you have not done this trip, you are missing out.  I look forward to fishing again with Tom, he was a great host and I would recommend him.
