Sore Arms Feel Good!!
We started Tuesday, 9/7/04, heading north to fish the lumps on the backside of Pooles Island. It was the first time this year Bill and I fished these famous lumps. We couldn’t get a bite and understandably…there were no baitfish in this area.
We crossed over and headed down the east side and it wasn’t long before we located some birds working the water. We bailed some nice bluefish and dink stripers (with the exception below) for the next hour outside of Tolchester. This pattern was prevalent on the eastern shoreline until we reached Rock Hall.
Our next stop was on the western shore line and by the time we arrived the birds were sitting on the water. We fished some structures that were very productive. I was hoping the quality blue fish would start feeding before we left. It wasn’t long before they did.

Our arms were tired as we headed west into the Patapsco River. We were catching fish throughout the entire day after leaving Pooles Island lumps. The water has cooled to 77.7 degrees and we didn’t see many boats out even in the River.
Equipment:
Light spinning tackle with lures. The most productive being a Hopkins, SHORTY, 3/4 ounce, gold spoon.
Fishing Tip:
To save
unproductive time, tune in your fish finder, then cruise around structures to
pinpoint fish before dropping a line. There will be times when they are
bunched up in an area no larger than your boat.
Tight Lines,
