They Kept Biting All Day
John Keeler and I launched at 6:00 AM sharp yesterday, 8/26/04, headed for
the Chesapeake Bay. The wind was blowing around 10 knots and increasing. When we
got out on the bay 2 and 3 foot rollers greeted us. No match for my new 22’ Twin
Vee. She just set on top giving us a smooth dry ride and a nice drift over
shoals and mounds without a drift sock. We both used light spinning and
baitcasting equipment with lures thru the entire day.
The first stop greeted us with some nice striped bass, one being of keeper size.
As we moved from structure to structure the most prevalent species was
large white perch, the kind with wide black backs. We also landed some nice blue
fish, which went into ‘the box’ for some fish cakes I’ll be eating for lunch
today.
As the day progressed the winds slowed down making it a beautiful afternoon with
almost flat seas.
The fish were biting all day as we left for the dock at 4:00 PM.
Thanks John for selecting Capt Tom Hughes Guide Service for this great trip.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Tom Hughes
