Twin
Vee powers toward market dominance with new models, philosophy
FORT PIERCE -- Twin Vee
Inc., North America’s largest builder of power catamarans, will not only
display three of its most popular vessels at the Fort Lauderdale
International Boat Show next week but will also unveil a new passion for
quality, innovation and customer choices.
Numerous product improvements, introduction of several new models unique
to the market and an expanded dealer network have strengthened the
company’s ability to meet the growing demand for catamaran fishing and
cruising boats, said Bob Chew, director of sales and marketing.
“We are not just displaying new products,” he said. “We are displaying
an all-new company philosophy.”
The 45th annual Fort Lauderdale show, running Oct. 28 to Nov. 1, will be
the first opportunity for thousands of boating enthusiasts to see the
company’s new philosophy that followed a change in ownership and
management during the past year.
Twin Vee president David East emphasized that the numerous upgrades did
not compromise the soft ride and ease of ownership that propelled Twin
Vee from a dinghy-based, mini-warehouse existence and into its thriving
status into a major marine player in just under a decade.
Market statistics show that Twin Vee is building some 40 percent of the
fiberglass catamaran fishing boats in North America. And that market
share is increasing, Chew said.
“We’ve listened to our customers and dealers and we have upgraded our
products in many ways and have made many of our most popular options
standard for 2005,” Chew said.
Now, along with the great ride, East said, customers will have a great
look, more functionality and a higher level of fit and finish.
A comprehensive, product-by-product summary of enhancements is available
by contacting a Twin Vee dealer or by viewing the company’s
www.twinvee.net Internet site.
But indicative of the improvements are the new features of the 26-foot
center console model to be displayed at booth #4115 in the Sailfish
Pavilion tent, including:
• A high freeboard option that adds 8 inches to the gunwale height,
giving a sleeker, more secure look to the model that is fast becoming
popular among offshore fisherman desiring comfort in all weather
conditions.
• A totally redesigned T-top that is much stronger, more functional and
more visually appealing.
• A center console redesigned to accommodate flush-mount electronics,
vertical storage for 10 rods and, most significantly, a lighted and
vented head compartment. Easily accessible battery compartments are also
provided in the console as is concealed access to instrument wiring.
• An exciting new two-tone blue accent color scheme that becomes
standard throughout the product line. Other color schemes are available.
• An all-white deck and sidewall surface with an improved non-skid
texture and a more durable finish.
• An improved rear cockpit bulkhead design that replaces a non-insulated
box using black hatches with a space-saving narrow bulkhead and two,
large, portable coolers with color-coordinated cushions.
• An improved splashwell hatch system that better restricts water
seepage into the bilge during roughwater conditions.
East said that the above improvements have also been made to the 22-foot
model that launched Twin Vee on its voyage toward national prominence
some seven years ago.
A number of the above enhancements are shared with all 13 models ranging
from 10 feet to 36 feet.
Displayed next to the 26-footer will be the wildly popular 19-foot
BayCat, a model that Chew said is “far and away” the biggest-selling,
single-engine catamaran fishing boat model in the North America.
The improved BayCat features a forward live well, a taller and more
functional console and an improved leaning post.
“We are working hard to build these things fast enough to meet demand
while maintaining our higher level of fit and finish,” he said.
Though not displayed at Fort Lauderdale, Twin Vee’s new Family Fisherman
series offers dual consoles for the 19-foot BayCat and the 22- and
26-foot high freeboard models. The new series offers additional wind
protection and seating and will provide an enclosed head compartment on
the larger models.
The booth in the Sailfish Pavilion tent will be staffed by the Outboard
Shop of Pompano Beach.
Twin Vee’s largest vessel, a 36-foot model, will be on display at the
Bahia Mar Yachting Center in space 11C of the BC dock. The center
console version will also have many of the quality and appearance
enhancements listed above.
Power Cats of Florida, based in Lighthouse Point, will staff at the
in-water display.
The vessel has been described by Sportfishing magazine as having no
superiors in the offshore performance arena.
The 36-footer and a comparable 32-footer – unique in form and function
among larger catamaran fishing boats – have attracted such demand that
sales projections have been doubled for the boats costing many thousands
of dollars less than competitors’ models.
A number of orders have already been received for enclosed, Pilothouse
versions of the big boats, East said. The latest offering features a
Pilothouse console version that allows for walkaround fishing capability
while still providing an escape from inclement weather.
The Pilothouse console is capable of being air-conditioned, Chew said.
East said Twin Vee will be introducing several vessel versions in the
coming year in response to customer demand. The push for better products
and more choices is part of the company’s corporate strategy to become
one of the top boat-building companies in the nation within five years.
