Series
They Cast: Twin Vee's 17 Fisherman is a 16'10"-by-5'10"
Power Cat with just 7" of hull draft, perfect for poling the flats or running the bay.
We Cast: This is a ruggedly built, bare-bones boat with simple rigging that's easy to maintain. It's made to order for aftermarket rigging and will adapt well to a wide variety of fishing techniques that require shallow draft, high maneuverability, and the ability to run through a stiff chop. Our test boat had a Mercury 60 four-stroke EFI outboard with a four-bladed Trophy prop, an excellent power package. With a crew of three topping at more than 600 pounds, this boat still popped onto plane effortlessly. Meanwhile, it's so stingy that you'd have to fish this rig a lot to burn 100 gallons of fuel. Added bonus: With a 545-pound hull weight, it's so light you can tow it with a four-cylinder vehicle.
Who Will Fish It: Anglers looking for low cost, low fuel bills, no frills, and who like to rig their boats themselves.
The Numbers: $14,706 with the Mercury test power and a galvanized trailer.
