Twin Vee Weekender

With the flick of a folding deck chair, Twin Vee's spacious 3212 Weekender can switch from a hard-core fishing station to party central. Its comfortable interior and huge cockpit top off a soft-riding, stable catamaran hull powered by a pair of economical four-stroke Suzuki 140 outboards. The center-console helm accommodates two people on a comfortable leaning post. The stern deck holds a livewell in the center, with large storage compartments port and starboard for batteries, plumbing and storage.
Typical on Twin Vees, the hull is sturdily constructed and comes with a lifetime hull warranty. The stock interior is
spartan but easy to customize, with just over 6 feet of headroom throughout. The port head compartment includes a counter
with freshwater sink, porta-potty and hanging locker. The starboard cabin features a queen-size berth, another hanging locker and more storage. For even more cruising comfort add a hardtop with weather curtains.
The boat I tested was the first Weekender built, so it needed performance
tweaking and rode slightly bow down with the relatively light Suzukis. (According to the manufacturer, both problems have since been corrected.) Even so, it showed a wide range of efficient cruising speeds, from 13 knots at 3000 rpm to 20 knots at 4000, with a top speed of 26 knots at 5200. Get the props and balance right and these engines should top out around 30 knots, with fuel economy at around 2 nautical miles per gallon at cruising speed. At both cruising
and slow speeds, the Weekender ran soft and dry through a nasty chop that included steep 3-foot tugboat wakes.
